December 5, 2008 I am 50 years old and have had periodontal disease for most of my adult life. I have had two surgeries, and my dentist is recommending a third. I don't want to go through another surgery. Do I have a right to request the removal of my teeth and get dentures instead? |

November 26, 2008 I am a 56-year-old woman with a problem in an upper tooth. The root of the tooth has died. During the root canal, a crack in the tooth was discovered. The tooth will need to be extracted. I have all my other teeth. I am trying to decide what to do (nothing, get bridge or get an implant). What things should I look at in making this decision? |

November 24, 2008 I have just had all of my top teeth removed and an immediate denture put in. Why do I look totally different? I understand the pain and getting used to something in my mouth, but I was not aware that I would look so different. Even my daughter says I look like a different person. Is this normal? |

November 19, 2008 I have never had a tooth pulled, but I'm missing several teeth on each side in the lower quadrants of my mouth. I was told that because I have no teeth there, that I may lose my upper teeth. I attempted for months to wear a partial denture, but it was horribly uncomfortable. I asked about posts (implants) several years back and was told I could not have them on one side, due to a bone density issue. What should I do? |

October 31, 2008 I have had dentures for almost four years now and I'm considering having a bridge done. How long does the procedure take and what should I do? |

September 26, 2008 I am 70 years old and about to wear dentures. Will I still be able to continue singing? Will I be able to speak clearly? |

July 28, 2008 I'm faced with the option of having a root canal done on a capped molar that may have become infected. The tooth will then need to be recapped. Cost issues are making me consider just having the tooth extracted. But my primary care dentist is strongly urging me against that option. He argues that there could be complications, such as shifting of other teeth in the area or future breakage of nearby teeth. I'm in my late 60s. I've had teeth extracted several times before much earlier in life, and no shifting or other complications have happened. Given this information, what in general would you advise? |

July 21, 2008 I have a tooth broken off in my gum. After removing the tooth, how can it be replaced? Or could this broken tooth get a crown? |

July 2, 2008 if someone has hard white bumps on their gums, so it looks like you can see the jaw coming out, what would this be? |

May 29, 2008 My husband had dentures but refuses to wear them. He says they irritate his gums and he gags on the upper plate. Is there some type of implant that can be done so the gagging can be eliminated and the teeth secured to his gums? |

May 21, 2008 All my teeth were removed, but part of one tooth remains. |

April 7, 2008 I had an upper immediate denture made, but the denture doesn't seem to want to stay in place. It keeps slipping. What should I do? |

March 3, 2008 About 3 weeks ago, I had a non-nickel, three-tooth bridge placed. There is a very metallic taste in my mouth from this bridge. What can I do? |

January 9, 2008 I have to get dentures. I was told I have two options. I can have all my back teeth removed and leave the front teeth for aesthetics, or I can have all my teeth pulled. Either way I will have to wait 6 weeks for my mouth to heal, then make an impression for my dentures and then wait 3 or 4 weeks to get my dentures. Is that an average amount of time for this procedure? What about immediate dentures? |

December 7, 2007 My dentist said that I will require root canal work. Wouldn't it just be a lot easier to have him extract the bad tooth? |
