Q: I have never had a tooth pulled, but I'm missing several teeth on each side in the lower quadrants of my mouth. I was told that because I have no teeth there, that I may lose my upper teeth. I attempted for months to wear a partial denture, but it was horribly uncomfortable. I asked about posts (implants) several years back and was told I could not have them on one side, due to a bone density issue. What should I do?

You said it has been several years since you asked your doctor about implants. Over the past few years, new products and procedures have been developed to help treat patients who desire implants but have poor bone quality. I would suggest scheduling an implant consultation with either an oral maxillofacial surgeon or a periodontist.
