The time it takes to make a bridge depends upon the number of teeth involved, and the complexity of the case. A three-unit bridge (to replace one tooth) can be done in as few as three visits. Larger bridges with multiple missing teeth can take months. In addition, the remaining teeth must be strong enough to support the bridge. You also might think about implants to replace teeth. It takes four to six months for the implant to integrate into the bone. Then, a crown is placed on each implant. Your existing teeth would not be affected if you got implants. If you get a bridge, the teeth on either side of the space must be cut down in order to support the bridge. You can discuss all of these options with your dentist.
