After a child's upper and lower front teeth appear, the next teeth that children receive are the maxillary first primary molars, or upper baby molar teeth. This usually happens a little after a child turns 1 year of age. The mandibular first molars, or lower baby molars, are the next teeth to appear after that. For your child who is around 1 year old, it's perfectly normal for you to see two upper molar teeth in the back.
As these are your child's first back teeth, they may seem out of place or in a strange position. Things should look more familiar as your child continues to grow and other baby teeth come in. By the time your child is about two and a half years old, she should have a complete set of 20 primary teeth (baby teeth).
I recommend having your child seen by a pediatric dentist if you have concerns about the position of your child's teeth.
