A few months ago I had some old silver fillings replaced with tooth-colored fillings. I was very pleased with how they looked. However, I have noticed that the new fillings now seem to be 'outlined' with a brown line. What has caused these lines and how do I remove them? |

My teeth are yellow, and also very sensitive. Do I have to live with yellow teeth because they are too sensitive for whitening or veneers? |

I had my braces removed about a month ago. I wore them for two years, due to a gap between my two front teeth. The orthodontist placed a permanent retainer behind my upper and lower front teeth and I also received a removable retainer. However, for the past week, the gap has been slowly coming back. The permanent retainer is not loose, and I am wearing my removable retainer every day. |

I am interested in getting my teeth whitened. They are not that badly discolored, but I would like to brighten my smile. I asked my dentist about the Zoom whitening system. He told me that an at-home whitening kit (he would make a mold of my teeth to use) would work just as well, if not better. Is this true? What is the difference between the two? |

About 10 years ago, I had a composite veneer put on one of my front teeth. I've recently decided that I might want to do something about the color of my teeth. If I have a whitening procedure done, will it change the color of the veneer, too? |

Just over a year ago, I had a root canal done on one of my front teeth. I have noticed that the tooth seems to be turning darker than my other teeth. Why is it getting dark? Is there anything I can do to fix it? |

I am a 27-year-old woman. I have bad breath and a bad taste in my mouth. I brush and floss every day and rinse with Listerine, but it doesn?t seem to help. I avoid face-to-face contact with people. What might be causing my bad breath and what can I do? |

I have acid reflux and I have seen a difference in the color of my front teeth. I can almost see through them. I've thought of veneers, but not sure what the acid reflux will further do to my teeth. Should I get them capped? |

My 5-year-old son's two upper front teeth fell out about a month ago. At an X-ray done a week before that, his permanent teeth were shown to be right above the loose baby teeth, and they looked healthy. But the teeth have not come in. How long does it usually take for a permanent tooth to start showing once the baby tooth falls out? |

I am 53 years of age, and I want to have my four front bottom teeth crowned for cosmetic reasons. They are worn down, and almost look transparent. I have not had any cavities or problems with these teeth, but compared to the upper front 7 teeth, which have crowns, they look out of place. I know some people say that when you speak, people don't see your lower front teeth, but if it will not cause the teeth any harm I want to have them crowned. Are there other options? |

I have broken a small front tooth on the bottom. The break makes it look like the tooth was cut in half from top to bottom. There is no pain. The tooth is crooked and the tooth next to it has some chipping. My dentist thinks a crown is not the best choice because he would have to remove too much of the tooth. He is suggesting a veneer. Will this be okay, considering that so much of the front tooth is missing? Are there other options? |

We have just returned from a check-up for our 9-year-old daughter. She had an x-ray of the two teeth that are on either side of her top middle ones. The dentist was concerned about how small they are. She is now very anxious and is wondering what he is looking for and what can be done if there is something wrong with them. My 6-year-old son lost his two front teeth when he was 3 in a bike accident. The dentist said implants would be too painful for a young child and that because they were baby teeth it was not a big deal. I am concerned that my son's permanent teeth will not erupt where they should. Should I consult an oral surgeon? Can anything be done for him if the teeth do erupt in the wrong place? |
